The Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy (MBRGCEC), operating under the umbrella of Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF), has conferred the Union Coop the ‘Dubai Endowment Sign’ acknowledging and recognizing its remarkable contribution through Centre's community initiatives of 2020, in addition to sustainable community initiatives within the scope of social responsibility programs applied by Union Coop.
H.E. Issa Abdullah Al Ghurair, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF), and The Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy (MBRGCEC), handed over the "‘Dubai Endowment Sign’" to H.E. Majed Hamad Rahmah Al Shamsi Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Union Coop, in the presence of Mr. Ali Al-Mutawa, the Secretary General of Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF), Zainab Juma Al Tamimi, Director of The Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy (MBRGCEC), Mohammed Al Kamzari, Head of Public Relations and Communications, as well as Dr. Suhail Al Bastaki, Director of Happiness & Marketing Department- Union Coop.
This was during the coordination meeting held at the Al Warqa City Mall building of the Union Coop. and came in close line with the continuous efforts aiming to promote the communication and joint coordination between the two institutions.
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy (MBRGCEC) grants the Dubai Endowment Sign in recognition and acknowledgment of the remarkable efforts, initiatives and programs of the government and private institutions keen to design, execute and provide community contributions on the basis of an innovative endowment model.
On this occasion, H.E. Majid Hamad Rahma Al Shamsi, Chairman of Union Coop stressed and asserted the Union Coop’s keenness to promote all the initiatives and programs initiated by the Dubai government in numerous scientific, social, humanitarian and economic arenas, in line with and drawing upon the noble values inherited from The late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May Allah have Mercy on Him), that promote, enhance and uphold social responsibility and the spirit of cooperation and support between the members of the community and its institutions, and based on the corporate social responsibility goals of the Union Coop towards the nation and society, embraced since its initiation in 1984 AD.
He concluded: – “Union Coop is one of the first entities to respond to the global vision of endowment, initiated by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and ruler of Dubai (May Allah Protect Him), which concentrates and emphasizes on reviving the valued spirit of donation in order to attain and realize the sustainable development for society, as well as promoting Dubai stance as the global capital of innovation in the field of endowment and the consolidation of the concept thereof.”
He stressed that: – “Union Coop’s acquisition of the ‘Dubai Endowment Sign’ signifies a major incentive to carry on with our work in contributing to the development of society through the endowment to realize the qualitative growth in charitable and humanitarian works, which goes in close line with the directives of the sage leadership, and we look ahead that our cooperation with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy, shall partake meaningfully and attain fruitful outcomes to the promotion and development of society.”
In turn, H.E. Essa Abdullah Al Ghurair, Chairman of Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) in Dubai, indicated that : – “Union Coop has certainly merited the ‘Dubai Endowment Sign’ from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy, as a sign of appreciation and gratitude of the endowment and humanitarian initiatives it offers to the society, and in light of its charitable contributions in meeting the requirements of the community within the several educational, health, economic and other sectors, in compliance with the Dubai Global Vision for endowments initiated by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and ruler of Dubai (May Allah Protect Him).
Al Ghurair added that the Foundation is aspiring that the Union Coop shall be a role model for many institutions to follow via offering innovative endowment initiatives that considerably contribute to the effective participation in developing community needs, as well as promoting the spirit of social solidarity between institutions and individuals.
It is worth noting that, the Union Coop, since 2017 until the end of August of this year, executed 89 initiatives, at Dhs. 115 million and 401 thousand, that comprised endowment and humanitarian initiatives and charitable community contributions in the education, economy, humanitarian and social security sector, empowering people of determination, and shareholder support programs, the Islamic sector, as well as the health sector.
It should be noted that, the Union Coop assigned a support package in conformity with the potent efforts made of the Dubai government to decline the spread of the new Coronavirus, as it spent Dhs. 23 million and 336 thousand from the beginning of the pandemic until the end of August.
