Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) organized a special event to coincide with Arab Orphan Day as part of its sustained efforts to care for the well-being of minors and orphans. Attended by a large number of AMAF’s orphans, minors and care givers, the event drew the participation of leading Dubai government entities, such as Dubai Police, Civil Defense, and the Royal Equestrian Club as well as strategic partners and stakeholders of AMAF.
Held at Royal Equestrian Club in Al Khawaneej area, the event included a host of activities aimed at entertaining the children and enhancing their creative skills. The celebration reiterated the UAE leadership’s commitment towards caring for orphans and underprivileged children with the sustained support and engagement of prominent local businesses and the wider community.
Children participated in workshops, fun competitions and cultural contests, and enjoyed viewing equestrian shows and police dog shows. Face painting, local food kiosks, a show for productive families, and a spectacular fireworks display to wrap-up the celebrations were other key attractions.
His Excellency Tayeb Al-Rais, Secretary General of AMAF, said: “At AMAF, social responsibility is integral to our day-to-day operations. In line with the social development vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, we aim to instill the values of generosity and benevolence in society through engaging community participation in realizing our humanitarian agenda.”
He added: “Such events help establish a culture of volunteering in Dubai and increase social awareness for orphans and their needs. The Orphan Day commemoration also contributes to our ultimate goal of boosting sustainable development efforts in the UAE and achieving a cohesive society.”
At the close of the event, Ahmed Mohammed Al Yasi, Director of Financial Affairs Department&(Acting) Director of Minors' Affairs Department, honored individual and corporate sponsors and participants for their efforts in supporting the orphans and enriching their lives.
Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation works to grow waqf (endowment) revenues and invest them efficiently to manage the expenses of its minors according to a careful plan and clear vision. In addition, the Foundation manages the assets of the minors to enable them to develop into productive and well-rounded individuals in society. As part of this priority, AMAF oversees projects such as Family Village and the salma Humanitarian Relief program that aims to offer one million halal meals to victims of conflicts and natural disasters across the globe.
To ensure the sustainability of the salma Humanitarian Relief program, AMAF calls on members of the community to donate generously to save the lives of large sections of people in the world’s conflict zones.
