KHALED RASHED AL THANI, the Secretary General of the Awqaf & Minors' Affairs Foundation, stated that the Foundation tends to pay the debts of the indebted prisoners, who are in the Punitive and Correctional Institutions in Dubai, and support them in performing the Haj.
AL THANI said to "Emarat Alyoum" that the Foundation supports charities in the State, and supports international relief campaigns. He added that the Foundation considers the same as humanitarian and social duty, and that all service establishments in the State should participate in it. He mentioned that the Foundation continues in launching humanitarian initiatives, and in the coming stage, the Foundation shall raise what it renders for supporting the charities. He announced that the Foundation has computed and classified the Waqf in the Emirate. It applies the Waqf sustainability policy, which guarantees reconstruction of the Waqf after expiry of its lifespan.
AL THANI said in details that the Foundation has finally rendered a financial support of 465 Thousand Dirhams to the Directorate General of the Correctional Institutions in Dubai. 274 Thousand Dirhams of the said amount is for paying the debts of the indebted prisoners and fulfill their requirements, and 191 Thousand Dirhams is for performing Haj by some of the released prisoners. He explained that such step is aimed to activate the endowers' conditions in the general field of charity and serving of the society.
He confirmed that the Awqaf & Minors' Affairs Foundation considers the same as humanitarian and social duty, and that all service establishments in the State should participate in it. He mentioned that the Foundation continues in launching humanitarian initiatives, and in the coming stage, the Foundation shall raise what it renders for supporting the charities.
AL THANI mentioned that the Foundation's role is not limited to the local side only. It extends to rendering humanitarian aids to those affected by the lack of rain and drought in Somalia and the Horn of African. The Foundation has finally donated the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Dirhams in coordination with Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity Organization.
He added that the Foundation, based on its responsibilities towards the society, has rendered last month a financial support amounting to 300 Thousand Dirhams to BAIT AL KHAIR SOCEITY being the pioneering society in rendering humanitarian services to the needy in the State. This is based on a partnership agreement signed with Society. He added that the amount is allocated for care of the needy especially in the health and education fields.
AL THANI announced that the Foundation has computed and classified the Waqf in the Emirate of Dubai. It applies the Waqf sustainability policy, which guarantees reconstruction of the Waqf after expiry of its lifespan.
He explained that the objectives sought by the Foundation include care and maintenance of the Waqf as well as computing, classifying and managing its funds. This is in addition to establishment of Sharia Compliant Waqf Economic Projects through management and development of the same. Render advice and consultation to the endowers and manage the requirements thereof.
The Deputy Secretary General of the Foundation has announced approval of the "Waqf Profits" policy, which aims to activate the endowers' conditions and maintains the Waqf Asset. This is by way of investing a percentage of the profits in order to reconstruct the Waqf upon expiry of its lifespan.
He added that the "Waqf Profits" fall within the Foundation's efforts, which aim to develop and promote the Awqaf. It is considered as one of the economic and social structure features of the Islamic Society because of its role in fighting poverty and circularizing prosperity.
