AMAF Pays 14 Million Dirhams as Minors' Zakat

The Awqaf & Minors' Affairs Foundation has paid Zakat for 1408 minors for the year 2011. The total value of Zakat amounted to Fourteen Million One Hundred Eighty Seven Thousand and Eight Hundred Eighty Seven out of which Eight Million Six Hundred Thirty Six Thousand and Three Hundred Ninety One Dirhams is from the Minors, and Five Million Five Hundred Fifty One Thousand and Four Hundred Fifty One Dirhams for some categories sponsored by the Foundation.

AHMED BU SHAHAB, Director of the Financial Department at the Awqaf & Minors' Affairs Foundation stated that the Foundation has transferred the said amounts directly to the accounts of the minors of limited income. This is in order to activate the Foundation's role in rendering assistance to the minors pursuant to the approved standards. He said, it is in implementation of the Foundation's strategy stemming from the strategy of Dubai Government in favour of the minors that it sponsors.

BU SHIHAB added that the Foundation has spent subsidies from the Zakat "SANAD" Portfolio for the years 2009 and 2010 until the third quarter of 2011. It included Dhs. 10.810.357.65/=, Dhs. 9.967.129.90/= and Dhs. 8.041.537.60/=.

He mentioned that the Foundation has expended more than 28 Million and 819 Thousand Dirhams as expenditure out of which 11 Million 26 Thousand and 181 Dirhams are social expenses, Two Million 862 Thousand and 138 Dirhams as educational expenses, 159 Thousand and 557 Dirhams as health expenses, 7 Million 411 Thousand and 849 Dirhams as expenses in rem, 6 Million 931 Thousand and 299 Dirhams as residential expenses and 392 Thousand Dirhams for the debtors, all that from the Zakat Sanad Portfolio.


Minors' Nurturing
  
BU SHAHAB added that such services express the main objective behind establishing the Awqaf & Minors Affairs Foundation based on the instructions of H. H. Sheikh MOHAMMAD BIN RASHED                   AL MAKTOUM, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. Dubai Government is concerned about nurturing the minors and their families, look after their funds and invest the same, and provide them with social care, rehabilitation and settlement. This is in confirmation of the depth of our commitment to establish the roots of our reputation and credibility in the minds and hearts of all those who work with us. We achieve the same through our continual cooperation and work and opening of new horizons with the society. As such, we become able to achieve the Foundation's objectives.

On the other hand, within the framework of the Awqaf & Minors' Affairs Foundation's concern about development and update, the Foundation has presented its strategic plan for the year 2012. It is linked with the strategic plan of Dubai. It has been implemented upon the guidebook of the Government of Dubai in conducting implementation of the strategy (Strategic success of the leadership team).

A workshop is held. It is attended by TAYEB AL RAYES, Secretary General, KHALED RASHED AL THANI and Deputy Director General as well as Directors of the Departments and Heads of the Organizational Units for Strategic Targets of 2012. It is to provide high quality services and smooth and rapid communications with the public.

KHALOOD MATTAR BIN YALEEL, Head of the Institutional Excellence and Planning Office, said that the Foundation strives to perform its mission and achieve its strategic vision. This is in order to establish an institutional culture based on constant excellence and development, and established on commitment of the superior management to constant development, and endeavor to develop the human resources. She affirmed that the Foundation adopts the integrity and transparency approach and focuses on group work through the one job team. She said that the Foundation seeks excellence in serving the customers and applying the standards of safety and security in its all projects.
